Event Type

This Retreat was created in response to the longing from Australian and New Zealand NVC trainers to come together in person and enjoy being together as a community.

This is a co-creative gathering where workshops and activities are designed and led by participants. It will be a mixture of pre-planned and open space-generated workshops, activities, and spontaneous adventures and fun. Check out the co-created draft Bribie program here!

Retreat Dates: Monday 22nd July to Friday 26th July 2024.
The Retreat officially begins at dinner on Monday night and ends after Breakfast on Friday. You can check-in to the venue from 2pm on Monday. Check-out is 11am on Friday.

If you are curious about Bribie, or just want to connect with community, we would love you to join us for three online pre-Bribie gatherings. It’s an excuse to connect, play (we will have a group game), learn about Open Space Technology with Robin Clayfield, and step through an envisioning process around what connection looks like for each of us. These gatherings are free and open to all NVCAu Trainers and Sharers. They will be held in the NVCAus Community Zoom room. Please email us for the link.

Online gathering 1: Wednesday 8 May at 7:00pm AEST
Online gathering 2: Wednesday 5 June at 10:00am AEST
Online gathering 3: Wednesday 3 July at 7:00pm AEST

What will it be like?

The Venue

The Bribie Island Retreat and Recreation Centre in South East Queensland was selected for its community-oriented layout, beautiful nature setting, accessibility to major transport hubs, and affordable pricing. The venue features 7 modern cabins (each with a bathroom and beds for 4 people – or up to 8 people if you want to use the top bunks of the bunk beds), a spacious 200 person auditorium/conference hall/dining hall, a commercial kitchen, a separate amenities block with toilets and six showers, and tent camp sites. You can see a video of the venue here and the website here.

Accommodation options

1. Cabins: Bed in a dormitory-style 4-person cabin with ensuite (includes bedding and towel).
2. Private glamping (includes large tent, airbed, bedding, towel, lamp, and other small luxuries for your comfort). We aim to provide a standing-height tent similar to the Oztrail Tasman 4V Dome Tent.
3. BYO tent and camping gear. (Bedding and linen can be supplied for a small fee.)

 Food Package

We have engaged a lovely local business, At Your Service Catering, to provide us with meals (lunch and dinner). An example of the menu is shown below. We will also have some meal preparation that will be done as a community (dinner on the first night, and Tues-Fri breakfast). We imagine it will be an opportunity to be creative, have fun, and serve each other.

Who is this retreat for?

This Retreat is for Australia and New Zealand-based NVC trainers, coaches, candidates, and those taking initiative to share NVC in the community . For those who are wanting to be resourced in their sharing of NVC, either by feeling like part of a community of sharers or by sharing resources, etc. If you are a learner rather than a trainer or sharer, we have other events for you at Learn more about who this Retreat is for in this video.
